| Federal Member for Brisbane Arch Bevis has welcomed the Australian Government funding of $237,171 to improve teaching and learning at Northey Street City Farm. |
| The funds will be used for a new, sustainable, education building, with training rooms and an education office. It will enable a doubling of the number of vocational and education training (VET) students over the next five years. |
| Mr Bevis said: “As a long-time supporter of City Farm, I am pleased to see this funding which will enable City Farm to continue providing employment training in an area of growing interest. |
| “This new training facility will help stimulate economic activity, assist in addressing the economic downturn and increase the capacity of the local training sector over the longer term to meet future skills needs. |
| “The funding is part of the Federal Government’s Investing in Community Education and Training programme. |
| “The Australian Government is committed to giving access to skills training so that people have the flexibility and transferable skills to succeed in the workforce. Initiatives like this will help to achieve this commitment.” |
