Arch Bevis - Federal Labor Member for Brisbane

Grovely and Ithaca TAFE Campuses Gain $2.4m Upgrades 4 June 2009

Federal Member for Brisbane Arch Bevis today announced that the Ithaca and Grovely Campuses of the Brisbane North Institute of TAFE have received significant funding for Campus Upgrades.

The Ithaca campus has been awarded $2,027,497, and Grovely has $437,497 from the Federal Government to upgrade facilities.

Mr Bevis said: “The funding will provide Grovely TAFE with technology and equipment upgrades. Ithaca TAFE will be provided with building refurbishments, technology and equipment upgrades and the installation of a disability lift.”

Mr Bevis said that local students, employers and businesses would benefit from the investment in the buildings upgrade.

“Our community will benefit from this investment through improved teaching facilities and better training for our skilled workforce.

“The Brisbane North Institute of TAFE upgrades add to our local infrastructure with benefits to come for many years,” Mr Bevis said.

The Better TAFE Facilities initiative is part of the Rudd Government’s $500 million Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training, announced last December.

Mr Bevis added: “Like the investment in every school in the electorate, the Ithaca and Grovely TAFE upgrades will provide a long-term asset for the community while also providing jobs in the refurbishment phase.”
