New War Memorial for Gaythorne RSL 19 February 2009

Federal Member for Brisbane Arch Bevis today announced that the Federal Government has contributed $4,000 towards a new war memorial to be built by the Gaythorne RSL Sub-Branch.

The new war memorial will be built in Sid Loder Park, adjacent to the Gaythorne RSL Club.

It will commemorate all Australian involvement in wars and conflicts and peacekeeping and peacemaking efforts.

Mr Bevis said: “I am pleased the Government is supporting this project and I congratulate the Gaythorne RSL for its efforts on this project.

“The Gaythorne RSL does a magnificent job in ensuring the contribution of our service personnel is honoured and remembered.”

Gaythorne RSL President Merv Brown indicated that the new memorial would be constructed in time for this year’s Anzac Day service.
