A re-elected Gillard Labor Government will contribute $230,000 to the improvement of facilities at Norths Hockey Club at Dorrington Park.
The announcement was made by the Federal Member for Brisbane Arch Bevis at the club house last night.
Mr Bevis said: “The funding will be used to improve lighting at the park and upgrade the club house by improving disabled access, refurbishing the kitchen and installing rainwater tanks.
“This will benefit the Hockey Club as well as the local schools and other sporting clubs that use this facility,” Mr Bevis said.
“The clubhouse is also used for local functions, with an estimated 30,000 users of the facilities at Dorrington Park annually.”
Norths Hockey Club President Tony Battams added: “This is a unique opportunity for Northern Suburbs Hockey Club to build on its proud 54-year history at Dorrington Park and a unique opportunity for local schools, the local community and recreational users to access improved community facilities.”
